Cosmetic dental treatment
Get a beautiful new smile
It’s hard for people to imagine all the things that can be done with modern dental technology. Why, for example, do film stars always have such beautiful teeth?
These days, a lot of people choose to invest more in how they look, and it’s also becoming increasingly common to invest in your teeth. This is called ‘cosmetic dental treatment’, because the only thing wrong with the teeth is that they may not be as beautiful as they used to be. You may just have a single tooth which has become crooked or discoloured, or it may be the entire ‘smile’ which you would like to change. There are now many ways you can change this without inconvenience.
Porcelain veneers
The tooth is given a new surface, with a wafer-thin shell of porcelain bonded onto the front side of the tooth. The veneer can also be used to correct crooked and protruding teeth, close spaces between teeth, or change discoloured teeth. The strength and durability of porcelain veneers are almost the same as that of a natural tooth, and you’ll get a beautiful smile which will last for years.
New dental crowns
You can also get a whole new dental crown on one tooth or on a number of teeth. The crown covers the front and the chewing surface. If you would also like to brighten the shade of your teeth, this is normally done on those teeth which can be seen when you smile. We use your current teeth as the basis, and the only difference is that you’ll look better. It will be just as durable as your ‘old’ teeth.
The material used is porcelain, which looks very similar to natural teeth. This means there’ll be no dark line near the gum line, which is often seen when traditional crowns are used. Read more about dental crowns
Dental implants/dental replacements
If it’s not just that your original teeth don’t look so good, but they’ve also become weak, we will consider offering you dental implants instead of crowns. The original tooth is replaced by a new one, which will simply be bonded directly to the jaw with a lasting titanium post.
Also, several teeth can be replaced as a package solution, and the titanium core makes this solution very strong and durable. The results achieved by combining the latest and most advanced materials and shaping the gums are remarkable. The result is so amazing that no one will be able to tell whether you have natural teeth or not. Read more about dental implants
Teeth whitening
Normal, healthy teeth which have become yellow or discoloured by coffee, tea, red wine or smoking can be made much lighter by whitening the teeth. This is done either by laser or through a chemical process where the colour molecules are ‘washed out’. Teeth whitening can be done either at the clinic or in your own home. Gum shaping
An irregular gum level can now be adjusted by means of laser surgery. If you have a ‘gummy smile’, i.e. you show too much gum when smiling, this can be adjusted by lifting the gum.
White teeth fillings
Old and worn fillings can be replaced by tooth-coloured materials. We use either plastic or porcelain, depending on the size of the filling.
Cosmetic shaping
If you have minor damage to your enamel, pointed teeth, or flat edges because of wear and tear, these irregularities can be smoothed out and shaped to make the teeth look more symmetrical. This is a fast procedure to change or optimise your smile.
Cosmetic ‘bonding’
‘Bonding’ is a process where material in the colour of the tooth is bonded to the surface. It can be used to restore small tooth fractures, close small spaces or make other minor adjustments.
